Students registering for the first time at the University of Burgos must submit:
- Photocopy of the National Identity Document / Passport (presenting the original for certification).
- Photocopy of the Certificate of the second-cycle whenever not obtained at the University of Burgos.
- A passport-sized photograph for the university identity card.
REGISTRATION FOR THE TAUGHT PERIOD.
Registration for the taught period is on an annual basis and must be completed prior to the closing date.
Submission of documentation
- Authorisation to register on programmed courses (model B1).
- Where necessary, an application to follow courses that are not part of the programme (model A4).
REGISTRATION FOR THE RESEARCH PERIOD.
As a general rule, registration will be on an annual basis. Nevertheless, the student will be able to extend the period of research for two successive academic courses. In such cases, the student must register, on the first year, exclusively for the purposes of obtaining a university identity card, and, if required, student insurance and on the second year, for the credits for research work undertaken and administrative charges.

REGISTRATION FOR ACADEMIC SUPERVISION
Doctoral students who have gained the 32 credits
and have presented their doctoral thesis, who wish to maintain their academic links with this University up until the defense of their theses, can register for academic supervision.
Full payment may be made on completion of registration, or part payment in which case the corresponding instalments must be paid by bank order before the closing date for payment.
First instalment: Administrative charges plus 50% of the fees for academic services on completion of registration.
Second instalment: The remaining 50% of the fees for academic services from 15th to 31st January.
Students who are not resident in the city of Burgos will be allowed to make payment by bank transfer to the account of the University, following the specific instructions provided by the Unidad de Tercer Ciclo y Títulos
Non-payment or incomplete payment of registration fees after the closing date will lead to cancellation without right to a refund.
REDUCTION OR EXEMPTION OF REGISTRATION FEES
Reductions or exemptions of the registration fees that are set out below apply to the registration of the 32 credits required for the successful completion of a Doctoral Programme
- Members of a large family -
general category: reduction of 50% in the academic fees and in administrative fees, except for Student Insurance. If necessary, this same reduction will apply to students who register for academic supervision. Students lose this right if they are not included among the members of the family unit (they must submit a photocopy of an up-to-date certificate accrediting large-family status and original for verification).
Members of a Large Family - special category:
exemption of all academic services and administrative fees, except for Student Insurance. If necessary, this same reduction will apply to students who register for academic supervision. Students lose this right if they are not included among the members of the family unit (they must submit a photocopy of an up-to-date certificate accrediting large-family status and original for verification).
: the reduction or exemption that is specified in the corresponding grant conditions provided that the latter includes compensation for the academic fees of the University. The student must submit proof of being in receipt of a grant at the time of registration. Administrative fees shall be paid in all cases.
Students who have a recognised degree of disability equal to or over 33 percent:
100% exemption of academic fees; full payment of administrative fees.
Victims of terrorism:
100% exemption of academic fees; full payment of administrative fees. Direct victims of terrorist acts, or their children or spouses who are not legally separated from the deceased or those wounded in terrorist acts are allowed to apply for assistance.

In accordance with current legislation, all students must pay the premium for student insurance, with the following exceptions:
- Students who have reached the age of 28 at the start of the course on which they enrolled.
- Students who have already paid at another officially registered educational centre (on presentation of receipt).
- Students working as employees or freelance workers, paying any class of Social Security contribution.
In order to apply for help with student insurance, the interested party should send an application to the nearest Provincial Directorate of the National Institute of Social Security (Dirección Provincial del INSS
)accompanied, in most cases, by the following supporting documentation:
- Copy of the National Identity Document or Family Book (Libro de Familia
) Foreigners passport, identity card, residency permit or card).
- The receipt of the Student Insurance premium (registration fee receipt).
- The specific documents for each situation as may be necessary.
