A Multi-platfform software to manage intelligent home environments (mainly for disabled peopled) has been designed and deployed. An independent layer has been introduced in the systems for it to be applicable to a wide variety of devices, from different manufacturers and using different communication standards...

Innovative aspects

The application is independent of communication protocols and technologies: WiFi, IP, Zigbee, etc. It has been designed for those users with special interaction requirements, mainly for the handicapped...

Specifications

A system has been developed, mainly consisting of:


  • Domote mobile: mobile app, responsible for handling requests sent by the various home automation devices in the environment, as well as personalization of this environment by the user. Requests are sent via a data communication network (Wi-Fi or 3G) to which the mobile device is connected. The design of this app is simple and friendly, to facilitate maximum interaction from users of the system, based on their nature.

This application has been developed with the Android SDK, to establish this platform as the chosen on which to perform the development.


  • Domote server: the server application was created with the Java programming language. Its main task is to support the entire environmental management, involving users, devices, rooms and locations. Through it you can add or delete information to the database of the system, and each time a mobile application user is logged into the server checks it and up-to-date data is sent to users.

Both the application server and the mobile application should communicate with each other for the exchange of information quickly and securely...
