COURSE OBJECTIVES
-To raise awareness on gender equality and sexual-affective diversity in the teaching of English as a foreign language through the trans-feminist perspective.
-To raise awareness of the social responsibility that teachers have in terms of gender and sexuality equality.
-To promote the acquisition of tools to make English as a foreign language classes more inclusive of gender and sexuality.
-To provide attendees with practical methodologies, strategies and materials to use in their EFL classrooms.
-To achieve the inclusion of all people of non-normative gender or sexuality in the educational environment.
COURSE PROGRAM
With respect to methodology, the course will be taught entirely in English. The three pillars on which the course is based are: topic management (theory on gender and non-normative sexualities); classroom management and decision-making practices (teaching practices); materials and activities (resources); and curricular innovation (final project). The course will be divided into five modules:
Module 0 is the introduction to the course, where the guide and schedule will be shown and the people who will instruct the course will be introduced through a short video.
Module 1 will focus on the theoretical foundations, covering concepts such as sex, gender, sexuality, and oppression, among others.
Module 2 will showcase teaching practices for use in the English as a foreign language classroom, divided into two subsections: pedagogy and practical strategies to use in the classroom.
Module 3 will present resources to use in class, from activities to extra materials, including reading books, music, movies, language use and more.
Module 4 will serve as a review of all that has been covered throughout the course, and a formal farewell, as well as a space to hand in the final project.
EVALUATION SYSTEMS AND PROCEDURE
The course evaluation will consist of:
- 10% Pre-test and post-test (5% each)
- 30% Active participation in the forums.
- 15% Evaluation questionnaire (for Modules I, II and III: 5% for each module).
- 45% Final assignment:
- 30% Propose an inclusive activity for the EFL class in written form (no more than 5 pages)
- 10% create an infographic of the activity
- 5% co-evaluation of the infographics
BRIEF EXPLANATION
Este curso pretende concienciar sobre la Igualdad de género y diversidad sexo-afectiva en la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera a través de la perspectiva trans-feminista y pensamiento crítico, aportando recursos prácticos para su inclusión en el aula de inglés.

SCHEDULE
Although the course does not have an established schedule, as all the content will be available for access at the participant's discretion, 3 optional 1h30 video conference tutorials will be scheduled (one each week of the course), via TEAMS, in order to continue resolving doubts and sharing experiences among the participants. The scheduling of these tutorials will be democratically decided by all of the participants through an online survey.
