Methodology
The students of the Centre of Modern Languages can access our language courses platform freely and without restrictions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The students can access the platform wherever and whenever they want and from any device connected to the internet in order to learn one or more languages totally independently. As for the Centre of Modern Languages of the University of Burgos, it will be responsible for the follow-up of the student, answering their potential questions and evaluating their progress along the course.
The languages courses are conformed by modules in order to work on the four languages skills (reading, listening, speaking and writing). The students can access these modules from an online self-learning platform. Each unit includes:
- A vocabulary learning module
- A grammar learning module
- A module for oral argumentation
- A vocabulary learning module which covers specialised fields: more than 60 specific professional and academic sectors.
Likewise, the platform also provides the student with natural immersion resources through the news and professional vocabulary learning. The platform includes progressive learning and the student will be able to track their own progress. Each unit is part of a level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Each level increases towards the next level of the CEFR, gradually presenting the student with additional difficulties.
Modalities
- 3 months
- 6 months
Conditions
- Throughout the course and depending on the chosen modality, the student will have unlimited access to 21 learning and interface languages: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, etc., according to the levels of the Common European Framework (CEFR).
- Likewise, the student will be able to use the mobile app synchronized with the platform.
- The student will have access to thousands of exercises and interactive animations, including content specifically designed to prepare them for the labour market.
- The student will have the possibility to complete a level test per month to evaluate their knowledge and place them in a European scale of linguistic levels.
- The student will be able to turn to our technical staff to get learning and motivational advice in person going at our offices (Facultad de Económicas), by email (centro.lenguasmodernas@ubu.es) or by phone: 947259375.
- The student will have access to a personalized page of reports, in which all their connection data and results will be registered.
- At the end of the course, the Centre of Modern Languages will issue a certificate of achievement, not a level accreditation certificate, in recognition for the levels the student has completed in the different languages. In other words, if the student completes several levels of different languages, they could receive a certificate for each one of them. Each level of each language requires a minimum dedication of 10 hours of effective work (work on actual activities completed) to be certificated. A week before finishing the course, the Centre of Modern Languages will notify the students so that they complete the final level test that allows to check the good use of the course. The certificates will be sent within 30-60 days from the ending of the course.
- The UBU students will be eligible for the attainment of 1.5 ECTS if they complete 80% of the established hours (60 hours) and pass the level test.
- The beginning of the course starts once the student receives the welcome email with the instructions and there are no connection problems identified. Once the course is initiated, it cannot be postponed.
- In no case will the tuition fee be refunded once the tuition is formalised (access credentials sent) except where duly justified.
