Global challenges, leadership and 2030 agenda

DESCRIPTION

In an increasingly globalized world, and within the framework of the 2030 Agenda, this course aims to address several of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by this international initiative. The program covers a total of nine of these goals, seeking to provide not only a theoretical understanding but also a practical perspective on critical issues such as the eradication of poverty (Goal 1) and the reduction of inequalities—economic, social (Goal 10), and especially gender-based (Goal 5).

The course also highlights the essential role that private actors—particularly companies—must play in adapting to criteria of innovation and infrastructure development (Goal 9), promoting more responsible models of production and consumption (Goal 12), and responding to the urgent challenges posed by climate change (Goal 13). All of these topics are approached under the framework of the circular economy, a key concept for understanding economic development in the 21st century.

Equally important is the role of public actors, who are primarily responsible for setting public agendas and designing policies and regulations that guide all other stakeholders. The course emphasizes the importance of building partnerships (Goal 17) to advance the 2030 Agenda, along with the implementation of inclusive, high-quality education models (Goal 4). Thanks to effective political leadership, these efforts should lead to the promotion of global peace and social justice (Goal 16), which are also addressed in this course.
