We are pleased to announce that the American Bar Foundation (ABF) is now inviting applications for Faculty Scholars to join the 2024-25 cohort of the ABF/JPB Foundation Access to Justice Scholars Program. Applications are welcome from empirical scholars in a broad range of disciplines and interdisciplinary programs. We encourage you to share this opportunity with eligible candidates in your academic circle.
Since 2020, the ABF/JPB Foundation Access to Justice Scholars Program has brought together cohorts of Faculty Scholars to support their research, mentor their progress, and build intellectual relationships needed to grow the access to justice field. The program is directed by ABF Faculty Fellow Rebecca Sandefur, who received a 2018 MacArthur “Genius Grant" for her work on access to justice. By facilitating the translation of research into policy and practice, the program generates more effective approaches to improve justice for all.
Applications will be accepted until January 15, 2024 and can be accessed via our application management system or the ABF website. The scholarship is non-residential and for a duration of 18 months. Scholars selected for the 2024-25 cohort will be expected to attend an in-person kickoff meeting in June 2024. Over the course of the scholarship, Faculty Scholars will convene for additional in-person meetings. More information about the program and past scholars is available here.
