Commercial Pilot Degree grows with 30 new students and 28 nationalities (October 14th, 2024)
Today was presented the third promotion of the Degree in Passenger and Cargo Commercial Pilot of the University of Burgos. During the ceremony, the Vice Rector for Lifelong Learning, Francisco Javier Hoyuelos Álvaro, highlighted the growth of the degree since its creation. "We have gone from 8 students in the first year to 15 the second and almost 30 in this third promotion," he remarked while highlighting the impact for the institution and for Burgos "This degree is not only important for the University, it is also important for the city of Burgos, turned into a reference at aviation school level," he added, emphasizing the positive impact that the student community has on the local environment.
To the presentation attended the students of the different classes, teachers, a large part of the rector's team, as well as representatives of the different institutions, companies and administrations involved.
He also highlighted the necessary and essential collaboration of FlyBy, the City Council, the Municipal Police, the Civil Guard and the Military Forces to carry out the daily development of the training.
The director of the degree, Ana María Lara Palma, was excited to welcome a new promotion at the same time that the first one is approaching the end of their training "today we celebrate the beginning of a new stage for many, the continuation for others and the closing of a training cycle for those who are about to graduate", stated Lara Palma.
In total, the student body of this degree program represents 28 different nationalities, “this diversity is undoubtedly one of the greatest assets of our program. The different cultures and perspectives they bring with them enrich our collective experience, reminding us that aviation, like the world, has no borders”, said the director, who thanked the support of the University of Burgos, its rector's team, the company Flyby and the Foundation, essential supports so that students from different origins can fulfill their dream of becoming commercial pilots, ‘thank you for providing our students with the necessary tools and resources for a complete and first class training’, she concluded.
Representing FlyBy, Pedro Pavesi, the company's commercial director, encouraged the students to advance in their professional adventure, "you are here because you have demonstrated the talent and determination necessary to achieve your goals", encouraging them to make the most of this educational opportunity "which is not only about mastering technical skills, but about training leaders capable of making critical decisions under pressure".
The event ended with an emotional remembrance of Estela, a Flyby student who recently passed away during a training session. "Estela's dream was to fly, and we must continue to pursue our dreams with the same passion and dedication," concluded the Vice Rector in a heartfelt tribute.
