On the 20th of May of 2024, the Bachelor of Science Own Degree in Commercial Pilot for Passenger and Cargo Transport (BOUBU Nº189) of Burgos University, organized an event to introduce the degree to the students of FlyBy Aviation Academy and to showcase the different experiences that would be helpful for the professional life of those students and of those of the University.
Furthermore, it was stated the importance of keeping with the development and enrichment of one’s education and also the importance of improving our Soft Skills. Meaning, that not only is important to better ourselves academically-wise, but to work in our social skills, communication, factors of the personality, attitude, professional skills, social and emotional intelligence.
We are glad to have the participation and collaboration of some of the degree`s professors and of all the students from 1st and 2nd Year. What´s more, 170 students from various nationalities, instructors and FlyBy´s personnel attended the event
.
The Venue took place at Salón de Actos de la Escuela Politecnica Superior at the Campus of the Milanera and the presidency was chaired by the Vice rector for Lifelong Learning of Burgos University, Dr. Mr. Francisco Javier Hoyuelos Álvaro, the General Manager of the General Foundation of Burgos University (Fundación General de la Universidad de Burgos), Dr. Mr. Jorge Izquierdo Zubiate, the CEO of FlyBy Aviation Academy, Mr. Alejandro Álvarez Aguirre, the Business Development Director Manager of FlyBy Aviation Academy, Mr. Pedro Pavesi and the Academic Director of the Bachelor’s Degree, Dr. Mrs. Ana María Lara Palma.
After the presentation of Burgos University, including the Degree’s structure and its benefits as a complementary education for those who already have the ATPL license, three in-service pilots had the chance to manifest the importance of lifelong learning as much as the development of the Soft Skills, that are very relevant in the decision making.
First of all, Ms. Silvia de Bon gave us a fascinating talk about the importance of the flight’s security and experience in aviation. In her speech, she shared the situation of confronting a crash landing in the middle of the Dolomites, on the north of Italy.
Secondly, Mr. Adrian Gomez, an ex-student of FlyBy Aviation Academy, who had also been a Theory Instructor of the ATPL subjects at Burgos University, currently works as a first official for Iberia Express and as an instructor Follow-up in the Degree for the Austro’s Control official exams. His turn was about his journey to become a first official at Iberia Express and he gave the students useful ideas of how to start their careers as pilots, preparing for an interview or applying to airline’s job positions.
Finally, another ex-student from FlyBy Aviation Academy, Ms. Oana Mocan, talked about her journey to reach the flight cabin of Wizz Air, starting as CCP (Cabin Crew for Passengers). She also gave the students the best piece of advice on how to successfully perform on the airline missions and get ready for any job interview.
We would like to thank Burgos University for hosting such an amazing event, the speakers for their time, and last but not least, FlyBy’s crew for collaborating with us.
