Supervision Agreement. Article 11 RD 99/2011: Supervision and monitoring of the doctoral student
8. Universities shall establish the supervision functions for doctoral students through a formal written agreement signed by the university, the doctoral student, their tutor, and their supervisor, in the manner prescribed. This agreement shall be executed as soon as possible after admission and must include a procedure for conflict resolution, as well as provisions addressing intellectual and industrial property rights that may arise within the framework of doctoral programmes.

5. Once enrolled in the programme, a personalised activities document shall be created for each doctoral student for the purposes of the individualised monitoring record referred to in Article 2.5 of RD 99/2011. This document shall record all activities relevant to the doctoral student’s development, as regulated by the university, the school, or the Academic Committee itself, and shall be regularly reviewed by the tutor and thesis supervisor and evaluated by the Academic Committee responsible for the doctoral programme as referred to in Article 8.3 of RD 99/2011.

6. Before the end of the first year, counted from the date of enrolment, the doctoral candidate, with the assistance of their supervisor and tutor, shall prepare a document including a research plan and a personal training plan. The research plan shall include at least the methodology to be used, the objectives to be achieved, and the means and timetable required to attain them. The personal training plan of the doctoral candidate shall outline the various training activities to be undertaken during the doctoral programme (courses, seminar presentations, mobility actions, etc.). This document may be refined and elaborated upon during the candidate’s time in the programme and must be endorsed by the supervisor and the tutor. In the case of doctoral candidates with the Industrial Mention, the provisions of Article 15 bis shall also apply.
7. Annually, the programme’s Academic Committee shall evaluate the doctoral candidate’s progress with regard to the research plan and activities document, together with the reports that the supervisor and tutor must issue for this purpose. If the Academic Committee identifies significant shortcomings, the doctoral candidate shall be re-evaluated within a maximum period of six months. Should these shortcomings persist, the Academic Committee shall issue a reasoned report, after hearing the candidate concerned, and the doctoral candidate shall be definitively withdrawn from the programme.

Administrative information:
This registration is carried out through the Virtual Secretariat, endorsed by the doctoral thesis supervisor and, if different, by the doctoral student’s tutor, and must be approved by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme.
The Directorate Committee, at its meeting of 2 December 2025, agreed the following:
A maximum deadline of 30 May is established for students to upload the Activities Report (Doctoral Student’s Activities Document), and 3 July for tutors, supervisors, and coordinators to upload the necessary reports to the platform.
