Description

Technological advancement has significantly transformed coating methods by introducing metallic coatings on plastic substrates. The coating of plastics (PoP) has become an effective solution in a wide range of applications in the automotive, aerospace and domestic industries. However, current manufacturing processes present some significant disadvantages related to environmental, occupational, safety and quality sustainability of the coatings, i.e. the use of hexavalent chromium in the etching process and the use of palladium in the coating step. activation The FreeMe project proposes two revolutionary approaches for the metallization of polymer surfaces (plastics or resins) without the use of hexavalent chromium and palladium.
