Description
TINKERVERSE is a strategic European initiative, coordinated by the University of Burgos and embedded within the RUN-EU alliance, which seeks to transform the teaching of foundational skills (literacy, mathematics, science, and digital competence) during key developmental stages (ages 3 to 15).
The project addresses the challenge of declining academic performance across the EU by creating a transnational network of "Maker Spaces." Operating under a "hub-and-satellite" model, these spaces serve as innovation centers that connect universities with rural schools and underserved areas, ensuring that hands-on and technological learning reaches all students.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Maker Education: We implement methodologies based on project-based learning and experimentation (tinkering), integrating everything from digital storytelling to Artificial Intelligence experiments.
Teacher Training: We empower over 320 educators through a micro-credential program aligned with the European GreenComp framework.
Inclusion and Equity: We design open and multilingual educational resources to bridge the educational gap in rural communities and for students from diverse backgrounds (migrants, multilingual environments).
Community of Practice: We lead a European network of experts and educational centers to ensure that classroom innovation is sustainable in the long term.
IMPACT
TINKERVERSE will drive a systemic transformation within the European educational landscape by directly impacting more than 1,500 students and 320 teachers, promoting a tangible improvement in basic and digital skills through its Maker Spaces model. By creating regional innovation ecosystems, the project will reduce the equity gap in rural and underserved areas, providing institutions with open educational resources, a hands-on learning methodology, and a sustainability framework aligned with European Union priorities, thereby ensuring a lasting legacy of quality and inclusion in the school system.
