The development of linguistic skills is the main focus of a training program. The objective is to increase the uniform and coherent application of EU competition law by national judges. Both judicial and linguistic skills are important: the project focuses especially on the latter skills, in order to:
1. Make judges understand problems related to multilingualism
2. Improve the judges’ language skills in at least one language (EN)
This should reduce the linguistic barrier. Whatmore, national judges should feel more confident when:
1. Reading in english, which is instrumental for a proper application of EU legislation and case-law (developing a multilingual approach)
2. Reading in other languages they know for personal skills, becoming aware of peculiarities of legal language
Comparing/sharing judicial experiences contributes to a uniform interpretation and application of EU competition law
