Streaming data is an umbrella term for many interesting subareas such as time series classification, prediction, change detection, and tracking. Data in the stream may come as independent, identically distributed, but most often, this will not be the case. There may be concept drift, concept change, and other contexts. Learning from streaming data is sometimes termed sequential learning or online learning. Context in streaming data can come in so many different forms that there cannot be one-fits-all learning methodology. This talk will present some thoughts about sequential learning, and will likely open more questions than it will answer.
