International Actions
ICCRAM plays a leading role in the international scientific community through its active participation in a wide range of organizations and collaborative networks. The Center is a principal actor in associations such as PROMETIA, which promotes innovation in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy; the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials (EIP-RAW MATERIALS), dedicated to securing sustainable access to critical resources; and DIH-LEAF, a Digital Innovation Hub focused on advanced technologies for sustainability. In addition, ICCRAM contributes to global initiatives on the responsible development of nanotechnology through its membership in the Nanosafety Cluster and the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA).
Its international presence extends to other scientific societies of high relevance, such as the European Federation of Biotechnology, the International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (ISMET), and the International Society of Electrochemistry, where ICCRAM researchers actively collaborate in advancing knowledge and exchanging expertise. Moreover, the Center is a member of the COST Action CA19123: Protection, Resilience, and Rehabilitation of Damaged Environments, contributing to European efforts to restore ecosystems and enhance resilience against environmental challenges.
Beyond networking, ICCRAM also manages and coordinates European projects funded under the Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation. These include projects within H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), promoting researcher mobility and training; FET OPEN, supporting breakthrough and high-risk research; the NMBP Programme (Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology, and Advanced Manufacturing); and Societal Challenge 5, dedicated to climate action, environment, resource efficiency, and raw materials. Through these initiatives, ICCRAM reinforces its role as an international reference in sustainability, materials science, biotechnology, and safe innovation.
